Introduction

This report describes the research and evaluation activities undertaken by our Division of Child and Family Development in 2019. Brief project descriptions provide an overview of the range of projects conducted by the Division during the year in early childhood research, child care, Head Start and Early Head Start, child welfare, human trafficking, and cultural diversity.

Purpose

This report provides detailed summaries of each project that was active or newly funded during FY19 and highlights select findings released in 2019.

The studies in this report are organized into six sections:

  • Cross-Cutting Early Childhood Research
  • Child Care: Raising Quality and Supporting Parental Employment
  • Head Start and Early Head Start: Enhancing Health and Human Services for Low-Income Families
  • Promoting Child Welfare
  • Human Trafficking: Improving Services for Survivors
  • Recognizing Cultural Diversity

This report covers all Division of Child and Family Development FY19 projects but highlights the following projects:

  • Infant and Toddler Teacher and Caregiver Competencies
  • Child and Family Archive
  • Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Policies Database
  • Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) Study
  • Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse
